A Classic Tomato Sandwich is a simple, fresh, and flavorful favorite made with ripe, juicy tomatoes, creamy mayonnaise, and soft bread. It’s perfect for a quick lunch, light dinner, or summer snack.

- Everything bagel seasoning
- Thinly sliced red onion
Instructions
- Wash and slice the tomatoes into ¼-inch (6 mm) thick slices.
- Pat the tomato slices dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.
- Lightly toast the bread if desired, or leave it soft for a traditional Southern-style sandwich.
- Spread mayonnaise evenly on one side of each slice of bread.
- Arrange the tomato slices on two slices of bread.
- Sprinkle generously with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
- Add any optional toppings, if using.
- Top with the remaining bread slices, mayonnaise side down.
- Slice in half and serve immediately.
Tips
- Use ripe, in-season tomatoes for the best flavor.
- Salt the tomatoes just before serving to prevent the bread from becoming soggy.
- A generous layer of mayonnaise helps protect the bread from moisture.
- Try sourdough or multigrain bread for extra texture.
