Juicy Steak with Creamy Garlic Sauce
A restaurant-style steak with a rich, creamy garlic sauce that’s ready in about 30 minutes.
Ingredients
For the Steak
- 2 ribeye, sirloin, or New York strip steaks (8–10 oz each)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
For the Creamy Garlic Sauce
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- Salt, to taste
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the steaks: Pat the steaks dry and season both sides with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- Sear: Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the steaks and cook:
- Rare: 3–4 minutes per side
- Medium-rare: 4–5 minutes per side
- Medium: 5–6 minutes per side
- Add 1 tablespoon of butter during the last minute and spoon the melted butter over the steaks. Transfer the steaks to a plate and let them rest for 5–10 minutes.
- Make the sauce: Reduce the heat to medium. Melt 2 tablespoons butter in the same skillet. Add the garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Stir in the heavy cream and Italian seasoning. Simmer for 2–3 minutes.
- Add the Parmesan cheese and stir until melted and the sauce thickens slightly. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Return the steaks to the skillet for 1–2 minutes or spoon the sauce over the rested steaks. Garnish with parsley if desired.
Serving Suggestions
- Creamy mashed potatoes
- Roasted vegetables
- Air fryer potato wedges
- Buttered green beans
- Garlic bread
Tips
- Let the steaks come to room temperature for 20–30 minutes before cooking for more even results.
- Use freshly grated Parmesan for the smoothest, creamiest sauce.
- If the sauce becomes too thick, stir in a splash of beef broth or milk until it reaches your preferred consistency.
