Ham and Cheese Puff Pastry Pockets
These Ham and Cheese Puff Pastry Pockets are buttery, flaky, and filled with savory ham and gooey melted cheese. They’re perfect for breakfast, lunch, snacks, or an easy dinner.
Ingredients
- 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
- 8 slices deli ham (or 1½ cups diced cooked ham)
- 1½ cups shredded cheddar, Swiss, or mozzarella cheese
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (optional)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon water
- 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds or poppy seeds (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out the puff pastry slightly and cut it into 4 equal squares.
- If using, spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard in the center of each square.
- Divide the ham evenly among the pastry squares.
- Top each with shredded cheese and sprinkle with garlic powder and Italian seasoning.
- Fold each pastry over to form a rectangle or triangle and press the edges together with a fork to seal.
- Whisk together the egg and water to make an egg wash, then brush it over the tops of the pastries.
- Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and sesame or poppy seeds, if desired.
- Cut a small slit in the top of each pastry to allow steam to escape.
- Bake for 18–22 minutes, or until puffed and deep golden brown.
- Cool for 5 minutes before serving.
