Crispy Air Fryer Chicken Wings
These crispy air fryer chicken wings are perfectly seasoned, incredibly crunchy on the outside, and juicy on the inside—without the need for deep frying. They’re ideal for game day, parties, or an easy dinner.
Ingredients
- 2 lb (900 g) chicken wings, split into drumettes and flats
- 1 tbsp baking powder (aluminum-free)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
Optional Buffalo Sauce
- ¼ cup hot sauce
- 2 tbsp melted butter
- 1 tsp honey (optional)
Instructions
- Pat the chicken wings completely dry with paper towels.
- In a large bowl, toss the wings with the baking powder, olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
- Preheat the air fryer to 380°F (193°C) for 3–5 minutes.
- Arrange the wings in a single layer in the air fryer basket, leaving space between each piece.
- Air fry at 380°F (193°C) for 20 minutes, flipping the wings halfway through.
- Increase the temperature to 400°F (200°C) and cook for an additional 5–8 minutes, until the wings are golden brown and crispy and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- If using Buffalo sauce, whisk together the hot sauce, melted butter, and honey, then toss the hot wings in the sauce before serving.
Tips
- Baking powder helps create an extra-crispy skin—be sure to use aluminum-free baking powder, not baking soda.
- Avoid overcrowding the basket; cook in batches if necessary.
- Drying the wings thoroughly is the key to maximum crispiness.
- For extra flavor, finish with grated Parmesan and chopped parsley or a sprinkle of your favorite dry rub.
