Slow Cooker Garlic Butter Chicken Breasts
Tender, juicy chicken breasts slow-cooked in a rich garlic butter sauce with herbs. This easy recipe is perfect for serving over mashed potatoes, rice, or pasta.
Ingredients (Serves 4–6)
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 2 lb / 900 g)
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup (240 ml) chicken broth
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
- Prepare the slow cooker
- Lightly grease the slow cooker with cooking spray or a little oil.
- Season the chicken
- Place the chicken breasts in the slow cooker.
- Sprinkle with Italian seasoning, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
- Add the sauce ingredients
- Scatter the minced garlic over the chicken.
- Top with the sliced butter.
- Pour in the chicken broth and drizzle with the olive oil.
- Cook
- Cover and cook on:
- LOW: 4–5 hours, or
- HIGH: 2–3 hours,
until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
- Cover and cook on:

- Stir in the lemon juice.
- Spoon the garlic butter sauce over the chicken.
- Sprinkle with fresh parsley.
- Serve
- Serve with mashed potatoes, buttered noodles, steamed rice, or roasted vegetables.

Tips
- Avoid overcooking chicken breasts, as they can become dry.
