These Air Fryer Cheesy Steak Sandwiches are loaded with tender seasoned steak, sautéed peppers and onions, and gooey melted provolone cheese, all tucked into toasted hoagie rolls. They’re quick, hearty, and perfect for lunch or dinner.
Ingredients
- 1 lb (450 g) sirloin or ribeye steak, thinly sliced
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 small onion, thinly sliced
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp smoked paprika
- ½ tsp Italian seasoning
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- 4 hoagie rolls
- 8 slices provolone cheese
- 2 tbsp butter, softened (optional, for the rolls)
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 380°F (193°C) for 3–5 minutes.
- In a bowl, toss the steak, bell pepper, and onion with the olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
- Place the mixture in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
- Air fry for 8–10 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until the steak is cooked and the vegetables are tender.
- Slice the hoagie rolls open and lightly butter them, if desired.
- Fill each roll with the steak and vegetable mixture.
- Top each sandwich with 2 slices of provolone cheese.
- Return the assembled sandwiches to the air fryer and cook for 2–3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the rolls are lightly toasted.
- Serve hot.
Tips
- Freeze the steak for 20–30 minutes before slicing to make it easier to cut thinly.
- Ribeye provides the juiciest, most flavorful sandwiches, while sirloin is a leaner option.
- Add sliced mushrooms, jalapeños, or banana peppers for extra flavor.
- Don’t overcrowd the air fryer basket—cook in batches if necessary.
