Air Fryer Cheese Scones
These Air Fryer Cheese Scones are light, fluffy, and packed with sharp cheddar flavor. They have a crisp golden exterior and a soft, tender center, making them perfect for breakfast, brunch, or alongside a bowl of soup.
Ingredients
- 2 cups (250 g) self-rising flour
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
- ¼ teaspoon paprika (optional)
- ¼ cup (55 g) cold unsalted butter, cubed
- 1 cup (100 g) shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- ⅔ cup (160 ml) milk
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard (optional)
For Topping
- 2 tablespoons shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 tablespoon milk (for brushing)
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for 3 minutes.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the self-rising flour, baking powder, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
- Rub the cold butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese.
- Add the milk and Dijon mustard (if using), mixing just until a soft dough forms.
- Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and gently pat it to about 1 inch (2.5 cm) thick.
- Cut out 6–8 scones using a 2½-inch (6 cm) round cutter.
- Brush the tops with milk and sprinkle with the extra cheddar cheese.
- Place the scones in the air fryer basket, leaving space between them. Cook in batches if needed.
- Air fry for 10–12 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and the scones are cooked through.
- Cool for a few minutes before serving warm.
