Air Fryer 3-Ingredient Grilled Cheese Sandwiches
With just three simple ingredients, you can make perfectly golden, crispy grilled cheese sandwiches in the air fryer. They’re quick, easy, and filled with irresistibly gooey melted cheese.
Ingredients
- 4 slices sandwich bread
- 4 slices cheddar cheese (or your favorite melting cheese)
- 2 tbsp softened butter
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 370°F (188°C) for 3 minutes.
- Spread the softened butter evenly on one side of each slice of bread.
- Place 2 slices of bread, buttered-side down, on a plate or cutting board.
- Add 2 slices of cheese to each piece of bread.
- Top with the remaining bread slices, buttered-side up.
- Place the sandwiches in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
- Air fry for 4–5 minutes.
- Carefully flip the sandwiches and cook for another 3–4 minutes, or until both sides are golden brown and the cheese is completely melted.
- Let the sandwiches cool for 1–2 minutes, then slice and serve.
Tips
- Secure the top slice with a toothpick if your air fryer’s fan is strong (remove before serving).
- Try mixing cheeses like cheddar, mozzarella, Monterey Jack, or Swiss for extra flavor.
- For extra crispiness, spread the butter all the way to the edges of the bread.
- Cook in batches if needed to avoid overcrowding.
Optional Add-Ins
- Sliced tomato
- Crispy bacon
- Ham
- Caramelized onions
- Jalapeños

Storage
- Refrigerator: Best enjoyed fresh, but leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
