Ingredients
- 2 cups (250 g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp baking powder

- ¼ cup (60 g) cold unsalted butter, cubed
- 1½ cups (150 g) shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- ¾ cup (180 ml) milk
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard (optional, for extra flavor)
- 1 egg, beaten (for brushing)
- Extra shredded cheddar, for topping (optional)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
- Rub the cold butter into the flour mixture with your fingertips until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese.
- Mix the milk and Dijon mustard together, then gradually add to the dry ingredients, stirring just until a soft dough forms. Do not overmix.
- Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and gently pat it into a 1-inch (2.5 cm) thick round.
- Cut into 8 wedges or use a round cutter for individual scones.
- Preheat the air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for 3 minutes.
- Place the scones in the air fryer basket, leaving space between them. Brush the tops with beaten egg and sprinkle with extra cheddar if desired.
- Air fry for 10–12 minutes, or until the scones are puffed, golden brown, and cooked through. Cook in batches if necessary.
- Let the scones cool for 5 minutes before serving.
