🧀 Cheddar Cheese Rolls

📝 Ingredients (Makes 12 rolls)

3 – 3½ cups all-purpose flour

1 packet (2¼ tsp) active dry yeast

1 cup warm milk (about 110°F / 43°C)

2 tablespoons sugar

3 tablespoons butter, melted

1 teaspoon salt

1 large egg

1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese

1 tablespoon melted butter (for brushing tops)

Activate the yeast
In a large bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy. -
Make the dough
Add melted butter, egg, and salt. Stir in 3 cups flour gradually until a soft dough forms. -
Knead
Knead on a floured surface for 6–8 minutes until smooth and elastic (add more flour if sticky). -
First rise
Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled. -
Add cheese & shape
Punch down dough and knead in shredded cheddar. Divide into 12 equal pieces and shape into balls.
Place in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. -
Second rise
Cover and let rise 30–40 minutes until puffy. -
Bake
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake 18–22 minutes until golden brown. -
Finish
Brush tops with melted butter while warm.
