Air Fryer Potato Chips
These Air Fryer Potato Chips are perfectly crispy, golden, and lightly seasoned with just a fraction of the oil used for traditional fried chips. They’re an easy homemade snack that’s ready in under 30 minutes.
Ingredients
- 2 medium Russet or Yukon Gold potatoes
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp sea salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
Optional Seasonings
- 1 tsp paprika
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp ranch seasoning
- ¼ tsp cayenne pepper
- 1 tsp grated Parmesan cheese (add after cooking)
- 1 tsp dried rosemary or thyme
Instructions
- Wash and scrub the potatoes thoroughly. Peel them if desired.
- Using a mandoline or a sharp knife, slice the potatoes into 1/16-inch (1.5 mm) thick slices.
- Soak the potato slices in cold water for 20–30 minutes to remove excess starch.
- Drain and pat the slices completely dry with a clean kitchen towel or paper towels.
- Toss the potato slices with olive oil, salt, pepper, and any additional seasonings.
- Preheat the air fryer to 325°F (160°C) for 3 minutes.
- Arrange the potato slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook in batches if necessary.
- Air fry at 325°F (160°C) for 10–15 minutes, shaking the basket every 3–4 minutes. Remove chips as they turn golden, since thinner slices may finish earlier.
- Let the chips cool for 2–3 minutes—they’ll become even crispier as they cool.
- Sprinkle with extra salt or Parmesan, if desired, and serve immediately.
Tips
- Slice the potatoes evenly for uniform cooking.
- Dry the slices thoroughly after soaking to achieve maximum crispiness.
- Avoid overcrowding the basket so hot air can circulate properly.
- Watch the chips closely during the last few minutes, as they can brown quickly.
