Ingredients
- 4 medium Russet potatoes
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp coarse sea salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp garlic powder (optional)
Optional Toppings
- Butter
- Sour cream or plain Greek yogurt
- Shredded cheddar cheese
- Chopped chives or green onions
- Crispy bacon bits
- Steamed broccoli
- Chili
- Grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Wash and scrub the potatoes well, then pat them completely dry.
- Pierce each potato 5–6 times with a fork.
- Rub the potatoes all over with olive oil.
- Sprinkle evenly with sea salt, black pepper, and garlic powder (if using).
- Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3–5 minutes.
- Arrange the potatoes in a single layer in the air fryer basket, leaving space between them.
- Air fry for 35–45 minutes, turning the potatoes halfway through cooking.
- Check for doneness by inserting a knife or skewer into the center—it should slide in easily. If needed, cook for an additional 5–10 minutes for larger potatoes.
- Let the potatoes rest for 5 minutes.
- Slice each potato open, fluff the inside with a fork, and add your favorite toppings.
Tips
- Russet potatoes are ideal because they develop crispy skins and fluffy interiors.
- Drying the potatoes thoroughly helps the skins become extra crispy.
- Avoid wrapping potatoes in foil, as this traps steam and softens the skin.
- Brush the hot potatoes with melted butter after cooking for extra flavor.
