Rosemary Garlic Bread
This Rosemary Garlic Bread is soft and fluffy on the inside with a crisp golden crust. Infused with fresh rosemary, roasted garlic, and olive oil, it’s the perfect companion to soups, pasta, or simply enjoyed warm with butter.
Ingredients
For the Dough
- 3½ cups (440 g) bread flour (or all-purpose flour)
- 2¼ tsp (1 packet) instant yeast
- 1 tsp granulated sugar
- 1½ tsp salt
- 1¼ cups (300 ml) warm water (110°F/43°C)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
For the Garlic Rosemary Topping
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp fresh rosemary, finely chopped
- ½ tsp flaky sea salt
- 2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.
- Add the warm water and olive oil, then mix until a shaggy dough forms.
- Knead the dough for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and shape it into a round loaf or an oval.
- Place the dough on a parchment-lined baking sheet or in a lightly greased loaf pan.
- Cover and let rise for another 30–40 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Mix the melted butter, olive oil, garlic, and rosemary together. Brush half of the mixture over the loaf.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
- Brush the warm bread with the remaining garlic butter mixture and sprinkle with flaky sea salt and Parmesan cheese, if using.
- Let cool for 10 minutes before slicing.
Tips
- Fresh rosemary gives the best flavor, but dried rosemary can be used (reduce to 2 teaspoons).
- Roast the garlic before mixing it into the butter for a sweeter, milder flavor.
- For an extra-crispy crust, place a small oven-safe pan of hot water on the bottom rack while baking.
- Serve warm for the best texture and flavor.
