Ingredients
- 4 cups (500 g) bread flour (or all-purpose flour)
- 2¼ tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast

- 1½ tsp salt
- 1¼ cups (300 ml) warm milk (110°F/43°C)
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
For Brushing

Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let stand for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- Add the melted butter, egg, and salt. Mix well.
- Gradually stir in the flour until a soft dough forms.
- Knead on a lightly floured surface for 8–10 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1–1½ hours, or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf.
- Place the dough into a greased 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- Cover and let rise again for 30–45 minutes, until the dough rises about 1 inch above the rim of the pan.

- Remove from the pan and brush the top with melted butter for a soft crust.
- Cool completely on a wire rack before slicing.
