- ⅔ cup (160 ml) whole milk
- 1 large egg
For the Topping
- 1 tbsp milk
- 2 tbsp shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 330°F (165°C) for 3 minutes.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the self-rising flour, garlic powder, and black pepper.
- Rub the cold butter into the flour using your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in 1¼ cups of the shredded cheddar cheese.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the milk and egg.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix gently until a soft dough forms. Do not overmix.
- Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and gently pat it into a 1-inch-thick round.
- Cut into 8 wedges or use a round biscuit cutter.
- Place the scones in the air fryer basket, leaving space between them.
- Brush the tops with the tablespoon of milk and sprinkle with the remaining cheddar cheese.

- Cool for 5 minutes before serving.
Tips

- Handle the dough as little as possible to keep the scones light and tender.
