Ingredients
- 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
- 8 ounces (225 g) sliced deli ham
- 1½ cups (170 g) shredded Swiss, mozzarella, or cheddar cheese
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (optional)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
- 1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds or poppy seeds (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Lightly flour a work surface and unfold the puff pastry sheet.
- If using, spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard over the pastry.
- Layer the sliced ham evenly over the pastry, leaving a ½-inch border around the edges.
- Sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly over the ham.
- Season with the garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and chopped parsley.
- Fold the pastry over the filling or cut it into rectangles and fold each one over individually. Press the edges firmly with a fork to seal.
- Transfer the pastries to the prepared baking sheet.
- Brush the tops with the beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame or poppy seeds, if desired.
- Bake for 18–22 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed and deep golden brown.
- Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
