How to Cook Tortillas in the Air Fryer
The air fryer is a great way to warm tortillas, make them crispy, or turn them into homemade tortilla chips.
1. Warm Soft Tortillas
Perfect for tacos, burritos, and wraps.
- Temperature: 320°F (160°C)
- Time: 1–2 minutes
Instructions:
- Stack 2–4 tortillas.
- Wrap them loosely in aluminum foil or place them under an air fryer-safe rack to prevent them from blowing around.
- Heat for 1–2 minutes until warm and pliable.
2. Crispy Tortillas
Great for tostadas or crispy wraps.
- Temperature: 375°F (190°C)
- Time: 3–5 minutes
Instructions:
- Lightly brush both sides with oil.
- Place the tortilla in the basket in a single layer.
- Air fry until golden and crisp, flipping halfway through.
3. Homemade Tortilla Chips
A healthier snack that’s easy to customize.
- Temperature: 350°F (175°C)
- Time: 5–7 minutes
Instructions:
- Cut tortillas into triangles.
- Toss with 1 tablespoon of oil and your favorite seasonings (salt, garlic powder, paprika, chili powder, or cinnamon sugar).
- Arrange in a single layer.
- Air fry, shaking the basket halfway through, until crisp and lightly browned.
Tips
- Flour tortillas cook faster than corn tortillas, so check them early.
- Don’t overcrowd the basket—cook in batches for the best results.
- If the tortilla starts to lift or fold, use an air fryer-safe rack or trivet to keep it flat.
- Serve tortilla chips with salsa, guacamole, queso, or hummus, or use crispy tortillas as the base for tostadas or pizza.
