These fun, flower-shaped hot dog snacks are perfect for parties, kids’ lunches, or a quick appetizer.
Ingredients
- 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed)
- 4 hot dogs
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 2 tbsp ketchup
- 2 tbsp mustard (optional)
- Sesame seeds or poppy seeds (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F). Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- Cut the puff pastry into 4 squares.
- Place one hot dog in the center of each square and wrap the pastry around it, sealing the edges.
- Using a sharp knife, make cuts about 1 cm (½ inch) apart through the sausage and pastry, leaving one end attached.
- Gently bend the slices outward into a circle to form a daisy (flower) shape.
- Brush the pastry with the beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame or poppy seeds if desired.
- Bake for 18–22 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.
- Add a small dollop of ketchup or mustard in the center of each “flower” before serving, if desired.
Tips
- Add a slice of cheese before wrapping for a cheesy version.
- Sprinkle with grated Parmesan after baking for extra flavor.
- Serve warm with ketchup, mustard, or your favorite dipping sauce.
