How to Fix Dry Salmon
If your salmon turned out dry, don’t throw it away. Here are some easy ways to make it moist and flavorful again.
1. Add a Butter Sauce
Melt together:
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 minced garlic clove
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon chopped parsley
Spoon the warm sauce over the salmon before serving.
2. Make a Creamy Sauce
Serve the salmon with:
- Garlic Parmesan cream sauce
- Lemon dill sauce
- Tartar sauce
- Hollandaise sauce
- Sour cream mixed with fresh herbs
3. Flake It Into Other Dishes
Dry salmon works well when mixed into:
- Pasta with Alfredo sauce
- Fried rice
- Fish cakes
- Salmon salad with mayonnaise
- Creamy chowder
- Tacos or wraps
4. Reheat Gently
- Place the salmon in a baking dish.
- Add a few tablespoons of broth, butter, or lemon juice.
- Cover tightly with foil.
- Bake at 275°F (135°C) for 10–15 minutes, just until warmed through.
5. Prevent Dry Salmon Next Time
- Cook salmon to an internal temperature of 125–130°F (52–54°C) for medium or 145°F (63°C) if following food safety guidance.
- Avoid overcooking—it continues to cook slightly after being removed from the heat.
- Brush with olive oil or melted butter before cooking.
- Let the salmon rest for 5 minutes before serving.
