Easy Air Fryer Bread
This simple homemade bread bakes beautifully in an air fryer with a golden crust and a soft, fluffy interior.
Ingredients
- 2½ cups (315 g) all-purpose flour
- 2¼ teaspoons (1 packet) instant or active dry yeast
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ¾ cup (180 ml) warm water (110°F/43°C)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil or melted butter
- 1 egg (optional, for a softer loaf)
Instructions
- Activate the yeast (if using active dry yeast)
- Mix the warm water, sugar, and yeast in a bowl.
- Let stand for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- Make the dough
- In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt.
- Add the yeast mixture, oil, and egg (if using).
- Mix until a soft dough forms.
- Knead
- Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- First rise
- Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl.
- Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Shape
- Shape the dough into a round loaf that fits comfortably inside your air fryer basket or pan.
- Place it on parchment paper or in a lightly greased, air fryer-safe cake pan.
- Second rise
- Cover loosely and let the dough rise for 20–30 minutes.
- Air fry
- Preheat the air fryer to 320°F (160°C) for 3 minutes.
- Air fry the bread for 20–25 minutes.
- If the top browns too quickly, loosely cover it with foil during the last 10 minutes.
- The bread is done when it is golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 190–200°F (88–93°C).
- Cool
- Remove the bread from the air fryer and let it cool on a wire rack for at least 20 minutes before slicing.
Tips
- Every air fryer cooks a little differently, so check the bread after about 18–20 minutes.
- If your air fryer is small, divide the dough into 6–8 rolls instead of making one loaf. Rolls usually cook in 10–12 minutes at 320°F (160°C).
- Brush the top with melted butter immediately after cooking for a softer, shinier crust.
