Crispy Oven-Baked Chicken Wings
These crispy chicken wings are packed with flavor, perfectly seasoned, and baked until golden and crunchy—no deep frying needed!
Ingredients (Serves 4)
- 2 lb (900 g) chicken wings, split into flats and drumettes
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon baking powder (not baking soda)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
Optional Buffalo Sauce
- ¼ cup hot sauce
- 3 tablespoons melted butter
- 1 teaspoon honey (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven
- Preheat to 425°F (220°C).
- Line a baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on top.
- Prepare the wings
- Pat the wings very dry with paper towels.
- Toss with olive oil, baking powder, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Bake
- Arrange the wings in a single layer on the rack.
- Bake for 20 minutes.
- Flip the wings and bake for another 20–25 minutes, until crispy and golden brown.
- Sauce (Optional)
- Mix the hot sauce, melted butter, and honey.
- Toss the hot wings in the sauce until coated.
- Serve
- Serve immediately with ranch or blue cheese dressing, celery sticks, and carrot sticks.
Air Fryer Method
- Preheat the air fryer to 380°F (193°C).
- Air fry for 10 minutes.
- Flip the wings and cook for another 10–12 minutes.
- For extra crispiness, increase the temperature to 400°F (200°C) and cook for 2–3 more minutes.
