Pierogi – Tossing Frozen Pierogi
If you want to cook frozen pierogi quickly, tossing them in a pan is a great method. It gives them a crispy outside and soft filling.
Simple Pan-Toss Method
Ingredients
-
Frozen pierogi
-
1–2 tbsp butter or oil
-
Optional: onions, garlic, pepper, sour cream
Steps
-
Heat a pan over medium heat and add butter or oil.
-
Add frozen pierogi directly to the pan.
-
Cook for 5–7 minutes, tossing or flipping occasionally.
-
Add 2–3 tablespoons of water, cover the pan, and steam for about 3–4 minutes so the inside heats through.
-
Remove the lid and toss again until the outside turns golden and crispy.
Optional Add-Ins
-
Sautéed onions
-
Mushrooms
-
Bacon bits
-
Green onions
Serve With
-
Sour cream
-
Yogurt
-
Hot sauce or chili flakes
Tip: Don’t overcrowd the pan. If too many pierogi are in the pan, they will steam instead of getting crispy.
