Homemade Oven-Baked Hot Wings
Ingredients (Serves 4)
-
1 kg chicken wings
-
1–2 tbsp olive oil
-
1 tsp salt
-
1 tsp black pepper
-
1 tsp garlic powder
-
1 tsp smoked paprika (optional)
-
½ cup hot sauce (Frank’s RedHot or your choice)
-
2 tbsp melted butter
Optional garnish: chopped parsley, celery sticks, or blue cheese/ranch dip
🔹 Instructions
1️⃣ Prep the Wings
-
Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F).
-
Pat wings dry with paper towels (removes moisture for crispiness).
-
Toss wings with olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika.
2️⃣ Bake
-
Arrange wings on a wire rack over a baking sheet (allows air circulation and crisping).
-
Bake 40–45 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.
3️⃣ Make the Hot Sauce
-
In a small bowl, mix melted butter and hot sauce.
4️⃣ Toss Wings
-
Remove wings from oven and toss in hot sauce mixture until evenly coated.
5️⃣ Serve
-
Serve immediately with celery sticks and ranch or blue cheese dressing.
Tips for Crispy Oven Wings
-
Dry wings thoroughly before coating — moisture = soggy skin.
-
Use a wire rack instead of placing wings directly on a baking sheet.
-
For extra crisp, broil 2–3 minutes at the end, watching closely.
