Ham and Potato Casserole (Oven Baked)
Ingredients

4 cups potatoes, thinly sliced (Yukon Gold or russet)

2 cups cooked ham, diced

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (divided)

2 tbsp butter

2 tbsp all-purpose flour

2 cups milk

1 tsp garlic powder

½ tsp black pepper

½–1 tsp salt (to taste)

Optional: ½ tsp paprika or thyme
Instructions
1️⃣ Make the Cheese Sauce

Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat.

Whisk in flour and cook 1 minute.

Slowly add milk, whisking constantly.

Simmer until thickened (3–5 minutes).

Stir in 1½ cups cheese, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.

Remove from heat.
2️⃣ Assemble

Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F).

Lightly grease a baking dish.

Layer potatoes, ham, and onion.

Pour cheese sauce evenly over the top.

Cover with foil.
3️⃣ Bake

Bake covered for 45 minutes.

Remove foil, sprinkle remaining ½ cup cheese on top.

Bake another 15–20 minutes until golden and bubbly.

Rest 10 minutes before serving.
